The World

Hayao Miyazaki's exhibition is coming to Beijing
"Today Art Museum: The World of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli - Animation Art Exhibition"
Exhibition Dates: June 12, 2021; October 10, 2021

🎫 Ticket prices: weekday ticket 88, holiday ticket 118, VIP ticket 158

The entire exhibition is centered around Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. You can see all of Miyazaki's animations, original manuscripts, storyboards, as well as an interactive photo zone with real-life scenes

Browsing suggestion: After reaching the ticket gate on the second floor, follow the instructions to take the elevator to the fourth floor and browse from top to bottom.
The 4th floor is the gate of Studio Ghibli. It's a wall of animation posters from previous years, which is very beautiful
The 3 🙅 layer is the original animation manuscript. (🙅📷 no photography is allowed in this area.) Panoramic shots are allowed, but close-ups are not
The 2nd floor is the real scene interactive area (📷 check-in spot) : giant cat car, super large totoro doll, little mei and little yue 's house… There is also an animation screening room with many children, all quietly watching animations. The scene is super warm and cozy
The 1st floor is around Studio Ghibli, and the price is slightly higher. The fridge magnet costs 55 yuan…

I went there after lunch on a weekend afternoon. Around 1 o 'clock, there were already a lot of people queuing for ticket checking. There were extremely long queues for taking photos at the cat car and Totoro area. We only queued for the cat car, and the waiting time was about 40 minutes. It was so crowded that it was quite difficult to take pictures. There might be fewer people on weekdays, but the ticket prices are cheaper

Little tip: 1. No water is allowed throughout the exhibition. Remember to drink some water before entering. Haha ~ 2. Personally, I think the lighting for taking photos at this exhibition is not good. It's basically top light. The human-shaped paintings on the high walls reflect light, and the light falling on the faces makes the shadows look very messy (as shown in Figure 4). The back view would be much better. 3. On weekends, you cannot browse repeatedly. It might be because there are many people. After going downstairs, if you want to go back to the next floor, the staff will remind you not to go

Overall, it's well worth a visit. It's said that the Celluloid exhibition area is not available in Shanghai. Watching these animations without taking photos is particularly soothing. I really like the cat car in Figure 7, but it's not for sale. If you like Hayao Miyazaki's animations, you definitely don't want to miss it
